What are PDO Threads?

Facial tension threads are made of a resorbable and biocompatible material called polydioxanone (PDO), it is a type of suture that has been used for years in cardiac surgery, so its safety is more than proven. Our body reabsorbs them between 6 and 12 months depending on their thickness.

The treatment

Pre-Treatment Consultation

During your consultation, Dr. Daniel Campos, DNP, APRN will take a quick medical history, discuss your expectations, and tailor the treatment approach to meet your aesthetic needs.

During Treatment

Before performing the treatment, Dr. Campos will explain where the threads will be placed using a marking pen.

Before sutures are inserted into the subcutaneous tissue, a local anesthetic is injected. There is a relatively low level of discomfort during and after your treatment. Once the threads have been inserted the skin will be repositioned to obtain the desired lifting effect. The ends of the threads are cut and the rest will remain inside your skin.

The number of threads to apply depends on the laxity of the skin, the condition of the skin and the cosmetic needs of each patient.

After Treatment

After insertion you may experience a minimal acute inflammatory reaction. Symptoms can include mild pain, swelling, and bruising.

The lifting effect is immediate. The bi-directional cones of the threads are used to lift the skin and keep it in an elevated position. Collagen generation is gradual. This action, which continues over time, restores the contours of the face and offers long-term results.

Dr. Campos will provide you with post-treatment recommendations and a post-treatment schedule to follow to ensure the best possible result.

Before and After

IT'S FOR EVERYONE? It is the ideal solution for those who want to refresh their appearance without major surgery, injections or lasers. Suitable candidates have good skin quality, with moderate sagging of the skin on the mid face. The skin should not be too thick/heavy or too

WHAT TO DO BEFORE THE TREATMENT? No special preparation is required before the thread treatment. Discuss your expectations and ask questions before beginning treatment. Report any treatment you have already received and any medications you are currently taking.

DOES IT REQUIRE GENERAL ANESTHESIA? No. Only a local anesthetic is used to numb the area before the threads are inserted.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER? After placement, you may experience a minimal acute inflammatory tissue reaction. Symptoms can include mild pain, swelling, and bruising. Sometimes a slight depression or irregularity in the skin may appear at the entry points.

These symptoms disappear a few days after treatment. Material sensitivity / allergic reactions must be reported. The implantation of foreign materials in the tissue can cause histological reactions.

Are there contraindications to the treatment?

Patients with a known allergy or foreign body sensitivities to plastic biomaterial. Situations in which internal fixation is contraindicated (for example, an infection). Patients who appear to have very soft facial tissue in which the implant may be visible or palpable.

  • Makeup can be applied smoothly after a minimum of 24 hours.
